Burberry

Thomas Burberry founded the company in 1856 and invented gabardine in 1879. It is great at weatherproof British outerwear. The trench coat—developed from the military officer’s coat—is the first and still the biggest piece. Fun fact: gabardine outfitted polar explorers and WWI officers before it outfitted celebrities in check.
