Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana launched in Milan in 1985. They are great at Sicilian-baroque sex appeal: the black corset dress, the leopard coat, family-and-church iconography. Fun fact: their first collection was shown with so little money that the “Sicilian widow” look was partly necessity plus memory.
