Patagonia

Yvon Chouinard built Patagonia’s clothing line in 1973 out of a climbing-iron business in Ventura. It is great at fleece and shells with activism as a spine, not a seasonal campaign. The Synchilla snap-T and Better Sweater became civic layers; the Worn Wear desk treats a jacket as something you keep. Fun fact: Chouinard gave the company away to fight climate change, which is not a normal luxury-brand ending.
