Christian Dior’s 1947 “New Look” (the Bar jacket and full skirt) restarted postwar femininity from a Paris salon. The house is great at that mix of garden romance and steel structure. Fun fact: fabric rationing made the New Look politically controversial—too much cloth, too soon after the war.
