Céline Vipiana founded Celine in 1945 as a made-to-measure children’s shoe business that grew into Parisian ready-to-wear. It is great at Left Bank polish. Phoebe Philo’s decade defined modern quiet luxury; later eras made the Triomphe and sharp tailoring newly loud. Fun fact: it began with shoes for children, not handbags.
